EGR 105 Foundations of Engineering I

Course Goals: To introduce basic engineering disciplines and cover some simple problem solving approaches using computer software such as internet browsers, word processors, spreadsheets, presentation software, etc. Activities will examine beginning aspects of engineering analysis and design, written/oral communication skills, and library resources. 
Class Format:
Eight 75 minute class meetings on selected weeks as shown in table schedule below and a series (seven required) of general afternoon lectures (M 4-5pm and/or W 12-1pm).  Class meetings may include both lecture and assignment activity time.  Attendance is required and will be taken at both class meetings and the general afternoon lectures.

Homework:
Homework will include weekly class assignments and summary reports of selected general lectures that you attend. Class assignments are generally due at the next class meeting.  Due dates and other requirements of summary reports are given on the General Lecture Web PageLate homework will not be accepted unless exceptional personal circumstances arise.  Contact me for such cases.  While group study is generally encouraged, submitting directly-copied homework is not acceptable.
Grading:

Attendance: 1% for each 15 events - 15%
Homework: 7% for each of 5 assignments - 35%
Summary Reports: 7% for each of 4 required - 28%
Presentation: 22%.
