Robot Dynamics Problem


Considerable computer applications have occurred in a variety of mechanical engineering courses including statics, dynamics, kinematics, controls and vibrations using the dynamics simulation package Working Model. Its ease of use and short start-up time allows students to quickly create simulations of interest. Examples of such simulations in our dynamics course have included the motions of various structures and robots.  A specific robot motion problem involved the design and simulation of a two-arm manipulator to move and orient an object in minimum time subject to a maximum acceleration constraint.  Various dimensional constraints were also specified.  An animation of a Working Model simulation is shown below.
