Hand Stapler - Reverse Engineering Project

Students were asked to conduct a reverse engineering project; i.e. to take apart an existing product in order to understand how and why it was designed and to look at possible design improvements.  One such product was a hand stapler from a local industry (Stanley-Bostitch). Shown below is a photograph of an actual stapler along with a Working Model virtual design of the product. Students are able to verify proper dimensions, tolerances and static and dynamic performance of the created model device.
